Default Players with over 12,000 hours?

I'm nearing 14,000 hours playing time using the /age stats, 13,870 hours. I did the math and since I started in Feb 2006 that's an average of a little over 28 hours a week every single week for almost 9 years. I'm hooked on the game yes and so that may seem like an excessive amount of time per week in one game for several years in a row.

So I wondered if anyone who's played about that many hours a week for years like that thinks it's an issue or is proud of it. It's mostly proud of it in my case with some concern because my small family doesn't know I've spent that much time in the game.

Lately I sometimes run people from LA to the desert so they can do the Ascension mission in Augury. I hero all the missions for them up to that point in normal mode but I can't hero the bonus in Dunes of Despair. I still dabble in popular ZBs & ZMs in PUGs. Not in a active guild atm. And heroing armor runs for players in FOW and spider runs in UW. One of my characters is Pulls Some Strings (ranger.)

Also I ferry people for free from Kamadan to the Docks and to LA and KC with characters I named for the ferries, Ferry to Docks Mes and Docks to LA Ferry. Yeah I don't have 30 pts yet in the HOM calculator but I play the game mostly for exploration. And for the community, the net radio DJ parties are fun for example.

I don't understand how anyone could possibly still have fun after such an excessive amount of time spent in one game. GW might have been my favourite game ever, but my total /age is still under 2000 hours and I would never even think about spending another 6 times that amount O.O

Though I had a guy in my previous guild who had something like 10,000 at that time, and he seemed to be still enjoying the game every day. I will never understand that though...

with a bunch of accounts... I still manage to play just about everyday.
my main account has 12400+ hours since august 2005.
my 2nd account has about 1000 hours, 3rd with over 700, and the rest with about 200 or so each....some of that has been afk, but MOST has been me playing (sometimes on 2 accounts at the same time).
I STILL enjoy the game immensely (with that many hours I certainly hope I have enjoyed it), and will continue to play for as long as I can.

oh and I still manage to ...manage (moderate) here as well...hows that for being 'into' this game

more than 21,000 hours for me in 110 months, and i still play it, as my goal is to have fun with many chars, and not just get everything and then going 1 of the 2 most popular ways which are

1. quit the game, play another (even try GW2)
2. farm faction all time just to keep a town (mostly the nr 1's have those kinda people) and thats all you do from there on

no, i do much more, like nicholas when i can, get items i like, do events, make builds based on anime characters or such, try to make working hero builds to avoid playing the saem way all the time, and not to forget, making own builds until i'm satisfied, and then make even more builds on own chars

this is also why i rather play GW than other MMO's (cuz there you NEED to be like others, or like lothers want you to be to get teams) or console games (where you have to use the same skills over and over)
with the exception of breath of fire 3 on PS1, as i like playing through the game, and play super smash bros brawl on the wii, cuz its fun kicking some holes into other nintendo characters

but mostly GW, yes
in GW i'm also on a weapon hunt, to make my chars even more the way i want

so yea, that timer of /age is gonna increase everyday for me..... almost everyday, as i take breaks

I still play and I'm at 10,996 hours over a span of 115 months.

I think a lot of the time people are playing is also eaten up by socializing. I remember back in the day I would just leave the game running all day and only play for about 40 minutes of that time in total. Then there's the time people stand around on the rings and buying and selling in the major towns. It goes by quickly when you're having fun and not paying attention!

I was at your point when I first left the game for a really long hiatus (1800h). One day I came back and I added another 3500 hours since then and still ongoing. I'm not playing as active atm. it's more like a continuous up and down but GW is like my virtual home: I can always come back when I need it and want to feel comfortable.

For those other guys: I'm far away from that, those numbers are kind of insane (not judging, I'm impressed). So much love for GW.^^

i dont do the rings, but i should say i didnt mention afk times, as i'm watching anime and youtube stuff alot lately when taking a break from GW, and that break can sometimes extend until i go to bed (around 2 AM)
plus dinnertime of course

(i want lucky, not unlucky, done with clovers.... so will have to buy alot later on, lol)

so yea, i'm STILL addicted to GW, and its the only MMO getting this many hours from me *hint anet, hint, as i'm not the only one*
this is not meant to make anet pay attention, just a wish

oh yea, my biggest break for days was like around 3 weeks, i think, but that was only 2 or 3 times

For me, /age command wouldn't work, since I have started in the January of 2004, when we had like 200 people on the entire server and it was close to build 3600 or so... therefore, there are no exact numbers to measure from and honestly, I don't think it's at all necessary, as in the end, what always mattered to me is not how much time I've spent running a certain area, mission or competition with the friends, but whether my observations helped to aid the team to make Guild Wars a better place for all, so, I don't know exactly, but that number should probably be around 15.000 hours, half of which were spent in that testing mode I can be proud of.

P.S. Nowadays, Guild Wars is more like a game of the past generation, but look around and see how many people still find it to be appealing...

As far as me being away from the keyboard during my playing time it's very little compared to the total in game time because I never leave the pc on when I leave my home. So that leaves the times I fell asleep in my chair while in GW or doing household chores or other projects in the apartment while the game was still running. But the total time of all those is negligible imo.

I do. The game is extremely flexible. It allows the player to play in a vast area in almost any way they want to. If you have an imagination it is like an empty canvas to paint on with lots and lots of different toons. After all an artist just doesn't paint one canvas and give up art.

And yeah there is socializing and the rings and Spamadan time that add up and some people let their computers run a lot when they are away from them. Not me, my old clunker would overheat, hah.

But even so it's kind of weird you should think all these hours are weird when you are posting on a GW1 board for heaven's sake, haha.

I am still wet behind the ears it seems. I'm showing a paltry 4,801 hours across 99 months.

What a noob.

8,100 on main account, 1,200 on second account. I started a month after launch 2005 and took a break starting in 2009. Back again in 2012, and I play sporadically now.

good to know i'm as focussed as an artist, cuz i have 35 chars, of which 1 is perma pre, the rest are in post, some are limited to the areas they can go to

i make many, many builds on each char i have (except pre) just to play around with and have fun with
also, i dont always make good ones, there's many builds based on some kind of theme, like anime characters or other game characters, and i use skills which fit the chars mostly.... all for fun

GW is the only game i can do that with, and easily, as i can use heroes to defend and protect me from harm.... in non-elite areas
